Very welcome change after the corporate “show” at QAI. The crowds were thinner than last foss though. Some good sessions on RT linux and testing put up by the team form IBM. There were however a very limited stalls and technology showcasing happening. The VMWare stall saw some buzz during the day. Had a lot of people come in with requests to demo VMotion technology and ESX capabilities in general. But since the team hadn’t planned to hook up with our labs back at site couldn’t indulge in any technology showcasing. The team from Nokia was present showcasing their N800 series handheld. Pretty neat device which would be launched in India at a price tag of about 25000 INR. Dunno how it fits into the FOSS story though.

Well all in all a muted day at the IISc campus with some techno folks…… Atmosphere dampened by the terrorist attacks in Mumbai and the death of the former prime minister of India……. More stories may follow ;-)

The N800 uses a (mostly) opensource stack called the maemo. That is how it fits into the FOSS story :-)
