Open source testing

.!.

I call this looking beyond COTS (Commercially Of The Shelf) purely as an eye opener into the wide wonderful world of open source. 90% of testers in India have a notion that the buck stops at Mercury Loadrunner for load testing, Mercury Winrunner for automated funtional testing.

There is a wide range of power packed open source testing tools out there. The greatest benefit being cost effective QA solutions. Try JMeter, JUnit, marathon, jacareto & CurlLoader for starts; all being open distro’s

I personally prefer JMeter for all my load testing initiatives. The industry does suffer from the “tunnel vision” syndrome.

Well here is a line of thought: Just because your customer pays you for software service, that alone is no guarantee that he gets great software. On the same line of thought, just because you pay for a COTS testing tool, thats no guarantee for great tools ;-)

Id really like to do some shootouts here in the near future, pray time permits. Till then….. hApPy tEsTing !!!!!!!
